NovaSite! Recognition Plaque The Game Puppet

Ole Ole Sam, “Let the games begin,” said Spook.  With that the brother Grinn powered up their 1970s vintage IMSAI microcomputer and modem (connected to the telephone by an acoustic coupler) to perform automated searches for systems connected to the public phone system.  What they were looking for remains top secret, that is until bits and

pieces are woven into the fabric of Larry, who started doing web sites in 1997 as a pastime and in 1998 made his first personal web page which was little more than a collection of bookmarks.
Over the years The Game Puppet has grown to over 7,000 pages and the latest project is to take color pictures of every regimental monument in Gettysburg (450 so far).  Larry has been helped with his expansions and modifications by his cat  who also has her own section. Destiny

Larry's approach to building websites is a carry forward developed from “gaming” experience as a member of the first generation to grow up with interactive technology at their fingertips. Learning made fun is evident in the major sections of The Game Puppet which include Spy ware Info,Game Resources, Winxp Help,Fun Stop, Child's Arena, Java Games, Trivia, Virus Info, Calendar Web page, Holidays, Presidents, Free Graphics, Spiritual,

As a system Administrator as Larry has been doing computer related work since 1990 in one form or another.  His knowledge base has been enhanced by interaction with other webmasters, so in 2000 he developed his Game Puppet Award Program.

Again continuing his “gaming skills” the award program instructions (criteria) are constructed in a media space somewhere between the text, the experience and the performance, confounding preservation strategies that rely on notions of content fixity taken from other other award programs. Continuing a reading of the award program we see familiar construction, but a departure.

Thus when we use a “website” engine to create a new or improved web site, we are modifying the gamers software (approach to website development}. Lev Manovich has called this the new “cultural economy” of game design, which he traces to the release of id software’s DOOM in 1993. A published computer game today is often a set of design tools as much as a finished design. Enter into Larry's approach to creating an award winning website, with the heart and mind of a gamer, and may your journey lead to the prize
