|Lydia Dody Breast Cancer Foundation|
Hope Lives Breast Cancer Support Center was founded in 2001 by Lydia Dody, a Ft Collins businesswoman who had battled breast cancer after being diagnosed in 2000. After her recovery, Lydia wanted to ensure that the approximately 200 women in Larimer County and Windsor, CO diagnosed each year receive complete post-diagnosis support and care. Our Mission is to Support and Strengthen those touched by Breast Cancer by providing Care, Guidance & Education.
We are unique in that we focus on the post-diagnosis stage of a woman's journey through breast cancer. There are many well-established organizations in the Fort Collins and Loveland communities that provide ongoing breast health and breast cancer diagnosis information and services. However, we are the only charitable organization in Larimer County focused on providing breast cancer patients complementary care and lifestyle support for the duration of their treatment.
Every woman diagnosed with breast cancer deserves the most thorough care she can get, no matter her age, status, or severity of her diagnosis. Therefore, our mission is to provide those touched by breast cancer the support, knowledge, and care needed to complement their medical treatment. We fulfill this mission by paying for complementary care services and by educating all residents of our community about the many available avenues of cancer support. Through our Complementary Care Program, we bring the resources of over 30 cancer-related service and support providers straight to women with breast cancer. We ensure that these women can receive post-diagnosis support and care such as much-needed complementary care, lifestyle support such as housecleaning, and emotional support such as family and couples counseling.
On the personal side, Lydia is a friend of mine and I support her cause 100%. I joined HopeLives! when I moved to my new home in Colorado. My neighbor across the street, Debbie Lloyd, came over the day I moved in and invited me to volunteer at the HL Pink Boa 5K Run/Walk (a qualifier for the Boulder Boulder 5K) that next weekend , . I did and the rest is history.
As the reigning Mrs. American Renaissance 2010, HopeLives! was my platform for my 2010 national pageant win on June 26 of this year in Las Vegas and I truly believe it was instrumental in my win. The website is a combination of our story, our survivor stories, our events, video, photos and donor/volunteer opportunities. It is an honor to be a part of this organization and I serve as webmaster and volunteer with pride!
I have volunteered for HopeLives! for 3 years, the last 2 years as the Director/Choreograher of the Survivors Fashion Show at our Fall Benefit Gala, "Celebrate Life in the Pink". I took the website over at the beginning of this year, when HopeLives! got a new Executive Director, Melissa Evans. I dontate this website and website marketing and HopeLives! due to it being a fantastic organization, has won multiple highly rated web awards since the new design. Lydia is publisher of Style Media, Lydia's Style Magazine and Northern Colorado Medical Wellness Magazine.
